Rob Zombie vs. "The Blob": Word came down late last week that "Halloween II" director Rob Zombie will next write and direct a $30 million remake of "The Blob." While Zombie's filmmaking talent continues to be debated, the idea of him having a real budget (same as the outstanding "District 9") and doing a scary sci-fi flick is interesting. Yet does he really want to get stuck into another remake after doing two "Halloween" movies? The 1958 B-movie classic was already remade once (and not too badly) in 1988. Zombie says he has a new take on the material that doesn't involve a "big, red blobby thing." But then why is the movie called "The Blob"?
